JONESTOWN HISTORIC PLACES

As an Art History major and Architecture minor in college, I have always appreciated historic architecture. For me, there is nothing better than learning about the history of a place, and see that place loved and appreciated in the present day.

I chose to focus my field explorations for my CityLab class on the historic sites in the Baltimore neighborhood of Jonestown. As the oldest part of the city, this small area is filled with historic landmarks that have been added to the National Register of Historic Places. My investigation highlights the ways that passersby interact with these sites, and whether they understand the historical significance of these places.
